The one on youtube was originally being designed as a stand-alone project, and then the owner decided he'd like to make it for the QS engine. Then, the owner decided to take off, with the code (which is fine because it was really his anyway).

So there is no editor unfortunately.

Awh Man! Why did he have to do that!.. bummer! Do you have any idea where he ran off to or if anyone has one available or are you going to put one together somewhere down the rooad?

I notice in your comments a XNA editor will be part of the engines success.

An editor is pretty much required for any real game engine, otherwise you'd have to hand modify all kinds of XML stuff and create levels in other programs like Maya/3dsMax/Photoshop.

I'm not sure where any of the developers went, but it was pretty much understood that any work on this project is free and open source and anyone could leave at any time.

Still that being said there is quite a lot of progress already completed on this engine. Looks like it could be a bit of fun for someone wanting to get their hands dirty.

What level editor do you use?

Postby Zergleb on Thu Apr 30, 2009 4:34 pm

So if this engine doesn't have a level editor, And people are using this engine, And people need to use a level editor to make a game. What level editor is everyone using???

I haven't seen a finished game that claims it uses the quickstart engine... if anyone actually has made a game, they probably made their own level editor. But in most cases, they probably just hard coded the level info straight in the code ( a la demo )

It just seemed this was a semi-popular engine, I assumed someone was currently making a game in it I guess?? probably someone who posted on the forums.

I've seen images or video samples that people have posted using this engine, but nothing in the way of a level editor. I'm not sure how far someone has gone with it.
